About Us
Blinkenlichten Productions was conceptualized many years ago as a name to release
hobbyist software under, and is now making its first public software releases.
The Mackey Brothers made a name for themselves long ago in the Amiga shareware
scene with the game
MegaBall
and the music player EdPlayer. They have been working professionally in various computer-related
industries ever since, but have always had various cool side projects going to keep things
interesting. Mostly, these side projects don't get finished, due to free time availability and
various distractions (including the next project!). The ones that get far enough along are
posted on this website.
Members:
- Ed Mackey is the lead programmer. Ed is an expert at creating cross-platform
3D applications with C++ and OpenGL. He is the person primarily responsible for writing
the Blinkenlichten Screen Saver. Lately he has been
learning Python and writing Blender plugins.
- Al Mackey is a web
developer, artist and musician. Al is well-versed in HTML/CSS, Perl, PHP, JavaScript, and
Flash ActionScript. Al also does some Windows programming in
Blitz3D.
- Daniel Singer is an electrical
engineer turned C++ junkie. Daniel designed and co-constructed the original
Blinken Lights with John Early.
- John Early is a SQL database expert and programmer. He co-developed
with Ed the formulas for parametric Sproingies, which give them their new,
smooth framerate on high-end machines.
